What time is your worship service?

Our first worship service on Sunday morning is a more traditional service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Our second worship service on Sunday morning is a blended (contemporary) service that meets from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

How would you describe your worship service?

Both services include a time of welcome and announcements, prayers, scripture, a message, and music.  Holy Communion is typically offered in both services on the first Sunday of each month.  A more traditional service, featuring hymns and an adult choir, is at 9:00 a.m.  A blended (contemporary) service is at 11:00 a.m. and offers a praise band and worship music/choruses. Be sure to visit both services to see where you feel most at home.

On rare occasions, we have only one "combined" service of worship at 10:00 a.m. for a special occasion.  Please check our website or Facebook page before your visit to make sure if your first visit is on one of those days that you arrive at the appropriate time!

How should I dress?

First Farragut United Methodist Church is less formal than many churches.  Dress at the 11:00 a.m. blended (contemporary) service is generally casual; you may see a sports coat and dresses, in addition to khakis or jeans, at the 9:00 a.m. (more traditional) service.

Will I have to say or do anything if I am a visitor?

You will not have to say or do anything if you are a visitor.  We do encourage first-time visitors to stop at our "Friendship Table" to receive information about our ministries.  Guests are encouraged to sign and complete the information on the friendship pad (passed during the offering) and to include any prayer requests or concerns they may have.

What time does Sunday School meet, and what are the ages for Sunday School?

We have Sunday School for all ages that meets every Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m.  For more information about individual classes, please click here.

What is the process for joining?

At First Farragut UMC, the first step in membership is participating in a New Members' class or Confirmation.  New Members classes are for adults, last six to seven weeks, and are offered several times a year.  Confirmation is for children, typically in fifth or sixth grade.

There are three types of membership in the United Methodist Church:

1) A full member has experienced a baptism that is considered valid and has also been confirmed as a member of the United Methodist Church (see more below).

2) An affiliate or associate member may retain membership in another UMC congregation or even a congregation affiliated with a different Christian denomination.

3) A baptized member is one who has been baptized but not yet confirmed into full membership.

If you were baptized as an infant or young child and have not made a profession of faith and been confirmed, then you will prepare to profess your faith when you take the membership vows (after participating in the New Member or Confirmation class).  If you are a member of another part of the church (such as Baptist, Presbyterian, or Lutheran), then you can transfer your membership from that church to a local United Methodist Church.  If you are a member of another Christian church that does not transfer membership, we will honor your journey and receive your membership as a reaffirmation of faith, and you will be received as a member.  When joining a United Methodist Church, the new member promises to support the Church with his/her prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.  Feel free to talk with First Farragut UMC's Pastor about becoming a member of the church.  She will be able to answer your questions and help you discern your next steps to take.

Can I receive Communion?

First Farragut United Methodist Church celebrates an “open” table. All who wish to receive the sacrament are invited to do so, regardless of denominational affiliation or church membership.  Gluten-free elements are available on the altar for those who need it.  We also welcome children to participate.

What can you tell me about your children or youth programs?

Our focus verse for our Children's Ministry (ages birth through 5th grade) is Jeremiah 29:13:  "When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me." (CEB)

We are dedicated to a partnership with parents to lead their children in the exploration of Christian faith.  We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and fun environment where all children are introduced to God and His love for them, laying the foundation to help them make Christian education decisions.

We look forward to going on this faith journey with your child(ren)!

First Farragut United Methodist Youth Ministries offers exciting opportunities for Middle School and High School students to connect with other young people in large and small group settings.  John 10:10b says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full!"  At FFUMC, we believe that life to the fullest should be lived out and experienced with our youth.  We seek the Lord in all kinds of adventurous ways as we walk with Him together.   In our large group setting, students experience authentic, exciting fellowship along with solid Biblical teaching that is relevant to students in today's post-modern culture!  In our small group settings, we take our faith journey deeper as we seek to know Christ more intimately!

It's not easy being a teenager.  Peer pressure, school work, busy schedules, and daily difficult decisions are enough to drive anyone crazy!  Sunday Night United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) offers crazy games, skits, great food, and lots of laughter to go along with the scripture message.   Come as you are and bring your friends!  It is a relaxed and fun environment where we experience Christ in a new way every week. UMYF meets 5:30 -7:00 p.m. in Youth Central on most Sundays.

What do United Methodists believe?

The United Methodist Church is an 12.8-million-strong global church that opens hearts, opens minds, and opens doors through active engagement with our world.  To read more about the church’s mission statement, click here.

John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.  We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.
