Missions

Our support of local, regional and worldwide missions is a big part of who we are at FFUMC. We strive to have a deep impact in our community.

Local Church Missions

Family Promise of Greater Knoxville- Provides shelter, meals and comprehensive support to families without homes, enabling them to achieve sustainable independence.

Christmas Community Dinner- Provides a turkey dinner, Christmas music, children's gifts and books, children's clothing and a bag full of groceries to 300+ needy guests.  You support this ministry financially, with the help of the Rita Hommel Endowment and individual contributions and with 150+ volunteers.

FISH of Knox County- Works to reduce hunger in our community by delivering bags of groceries to the needy who have no transportation.

LINUS Project- Provides security blankets for babies and children suffering from various sicknesses or have been traumatized and/or abused.

Loudon County Habitat for Humanity- Builds simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter.

Mobile Meals and Senior Outreach- Provides a nutritious meal and a wellness check to the frail, homebound senior citizens living in Knox County.  Senior Outreach provides meals to the same seniors over the weekend.

Mission Trips- Youth and Adult/Family- Provides short-tern mission trips for youth, adults and families.

Mobile Pantry- Distributes a truckload of food, in partnership with Second Harvest, three times a year, and distributes children’s clothing from UMW’s Wesley’s Attic ministry.

Morgan-Scott Project- Provides support for needy families in Morgan and Scott counties.  You support this project financially and with volunteers for Christmas toy drive.

Remote Area Medical Foundation- Serves low income, homeless and indigent people with medical care in the USA and around the world with traveling medical teams.

Volunteer Ministry Center- Serves the working poor, indigent and homeless people of Knox County.  The center helps with job placement, education and emergency shelter.

Holston Conference Missions

Compassion International- Sponsors needy children in 22 counties for a few dollars a month, providing food and clothing, education, shelter, health care and Christian training.

Emerald Avenue Youth Foundation- Serves urban children and youth and equips them to be leaders in their neighborhoods.  Focuses on the educational, spiritual and cultural enrichment of youth.

Holston Home for Children- Shelters, teaches, heals, counsels, protects and loves more than 500 children each year.

Turkey Missionaries- We have a covenant relationship with conference missionaries currently serving in Turkey in a predominantly Muslim populated region.

Red Bird Mission- Provides ministries to deal with chronic poverty in the Appalachian Mountains.

Wesley House Community Center- Offers comprehensive services and programs to individuals and families in inner city Knoxville.  Current programs include after school care; summer enrichment program; youth empowerment meetings.
