HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WORSHIP SERVICE?

Our service includes a time of welcome and announcements, prayers, scripture, a message, and music. Holy Communion (Eucharist) is typically offered on the first Sunday of each month. The music on Sundays includes a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs from our praise band and praise choir.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

First Farragut United Methodist Church is less formal than many churches. You may see casual, khakis or jeans, or sport coats and dresses.

WILL I HAVE TO SAY/DO ANYTHING AS A FIRST TIME GUEST?

You will not have to say or do anything if you are a guestWe do encourage first-time guestto stop at ouConnection Center directly inside the entrance to receive a gift and information about FFUMC.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR JOINING?

The first step to connecting and learning more about FFUMC is to stop by our Connection Desk in the main hall on Sundays or by attending our “First Steps” coffee that is hosted quarterly. We will answer any questions you may have and help you get connected into the many ways of serving and growing in your faith journey.  If you would like more information about finding your place here at FFUMC, please email the church office at admin@ffumc.org.

Next, you are invited to participate in “next steps” which may include participating in a six-week group study using “Disciple’s Path.” This six-week group will address theological and practical questions about membership within First Farragut and the United Methodist Church in general. While membership of FFUMC is encouraged, it is not required to fully participate in the life of the congregation.
If you were baptized as an infant or young child and have not made a profession of faith and been confirmed, then you will prepare to profess your faith when you take the membership vows (after participating in Disciple’s Path). If you are a member of another church, then you may transfer your membership from that church to a local United Methodist Church. If you are a member of another Christian church that does not transfer membership, we will honor your journey and receive your membership as a reaffirmation of faith, and you will be received as a member. When joining a United Methodist Church, the new member promises to support the Church with his/her prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Feel free to talk with First Farragut UMC’s Pastor about becoming a member of the church. She will be able to answer your questions and help you discern your next steps to take.
CAN I RECEIVE COMMUNION?

First Farragut United Methodist Church celebrates an “open” table. All who wish to receive the sacrament are invited to do so, regardless of denominational affiliation or church membership. Gluten-free elements are available on the altar for those who need it. We also welcome children to participate.

We meet as a family at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Please visit our children and family page here for more details.

WHAT DO UNITED METHODISTS BELIEVE?

The United Methodist Church is a 12.8-million-strong global church that opens hearts, opens minds, and opens doors through active engagement with our world.  To read more about the Church’s mission statement, click here.

John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.  We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.
