The Bible contains God’s story of interacting with God’s people in the pages of history. The Bible is not only God’s story of people who lived centuries ago, but it is our story also. Throughout 2022, we are encouraging you to cultivate a daily practice of spending time in the Bible with two Bible-reading options.
- The BibleGateway App offers many bible-reading plans. One we suggest you follow is called the “revised common lectionary semicontinuous” plan. This plan offers short readings from various scriptures from both the Old Testament and the New Testament; and the amount of daily reading is well-suited for beginners.
- The second option is in conjunction with Holston Annual Conference’s “Read Together” initiative to read through the Bible. This reading plan includes several chapters a day from the different genres contained in the Bible. You can read more detail about it here.
The Bible — God’s inspired word — is a way to encounter Jesus through the Holy Spirit every day. We recognize that it can be daunting, but it is nothing short of life-changing. How can we get to know Jesus if we don’t spend time with him?
