I'm New

We recognize visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating, but it is our goal to make your first visit as smooth and welcoming as possible. The best place to enter the church is through the glass doors in the center of the building. You’ll spot these from the parking lot. Volunteers will greet you at the door, offer directions, and answer any questions you may have. Feel free to grab a cup of coffee in the lobby, and don’t forget to pick up a small gift from the Welcome Desk as a token of our appreciation for visiting our community of faith.

Families with children are invited to choose between worshipping together in the Worship Center or taking children to Kids Worship in the children’s ministry area. We have special areas for children in the Worship Center where they can play, color, and worship with a little more wiggle room if needed. On the first Sunday of each month, Kids Worship joins the main worship service to celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion as a big family. Nursery for infants through Pre-K is available every week.

Next, you are invited to participate in “next steps” which may include participating in a six-week group study using “Disciple’s Path.” This six-week group will address theological and practical questions about membership within First Farragut and the United Methodist Church in general. While membership of FFUMC is encouraged, it is not required to fully participate in the life of the congregation.
If you were baptized as an infant or young child and have not made a profession of faith and been confirmed, then you will prepare to profess your faith when you take the membership vows (after participating in Disciple’s Path). If you are a member of another church, then you may transfer your membership from that church to a local United Methodist Church. If you are a member of another Christian church that does not transfer membership, we will honor your journey and receive your membership as a reaffirmation of faith, and you will be received as a member. When joining a United Methodist Church, the new member promises to support the Church with his/her prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Feel free to talk with First Farragut UMC’s Pastor about becoming a member of the church. She will be able to answer your questions and help you discern your next steps to take.

WHAT DO UNITED METHODISTS BELIEVE?

The United Methodist Church is a 12.8-million-strong global church that opens hearts, opens minds, and opens doors through active engagement with our world.  To read more about the Church’s mission statement, click here.

John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.  We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.
